Program Note

 

Sea Change is my first work for a full orchestra and was written for the 2016 Atlantic Music Festival. 

A sea change is defined as a notable or profound transformation and is the perfect way to describe my life in 2016. The piece is divided into six sections. Each section is marked by sudden shifts in dynamics, 

moving through various textures that are passed off like waves throughout the orchestra. The first section 

recapitulates at the ending of the piece to create a cyclical finish.
